2 min read

Aug-9- A tragic plane crash in São Paulo, Brazil, has resulted in the deaths of all 61 people on board, including 57 passengers and four crew members. The twin-engine turboprop aircraft, operated by Brazilian airline Voepass, was en route from Cascavel in the southern state of Paraná to São Paulo’s main airport when it went down in the town of Vinhedo.

The incident occurred after the flight, which had been uneventful up until approximately 13:20 local time (17:20 BST), lost contact with air traffic control. The Brazilian Air Force has reported that the plane did not declare an emergency before losing communication. This sudden loss of contact has heightened the mystery surrounding the crash’s cause.

Social media footage and eyewitness accounts have captured disturbing images of the plane descending uncontrollably. One observer reported hearing the plane fall and seeing it spiral out of control before the crash. This evidence indicates that the aircraft was in a severe state of distress prior to impact.

In response to the tragedy, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and observed a moment of silence in their honor. The airplane manufacturer, ATR, has committed its resources to assist in the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Emergency services, including police and fire units, have been deployed to the crash site. The neighboring town of Valinhos has sent 20 emergency personnel to aid in the response. Among the victims are two trainee doctors from Uopeccan Cancer Hospital in Cascavel, highlighting the personal loss felt across the community.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to uncover the reasons behind this devastating incident and provide closure for the affected families and the public.
