The 17th edition of The Headies Awards dazzled Lagos on April 27, 2025, as Nigeria‘s biggest musical heavyweights gathered at the Landmark Events Centre for a night of glitz, hard-hitting performances, and tear-jerking tributes.
Hosted by Nollywood actress Nancy Isime, the ceremony crowned winners in the big categories, with Chike being one of the night’s biggest winners. His debut single Egwu with the late Mohbad won two of the night’s biggest awards: Viewers‘ Choice and Best Music Video. Mohbad also won the Best Street-Hop Artiste award posthumously for his 2023 song Ask About Me, which got a standing ovation.
Meanwhile, Rema took home the much-coveted Album of the Year for Heis, while Odumodublvck picked up Next Rated, a major prize for fast-rising talents.
The show struck a balance between spectacle and sentiment, with memorable performances and honoring music excellence across every genre. This year‘s ceremony nonetheless omitted 10 major categories, including Best Collaboration, Lyricist on the Roll, and Best Performer.
