Shallipopi Slams Headies for Missing Plaque, Threats to Boycott Future Editions

Nigerian music icon Shallipopi has condemned The Headies Awards in public and vowed never to show up for a future edition after being the subject of ridicule at the 17th installment of the award ceremony held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Lagos.
Despite Shallipopi losing Next Rated, a controversial category, to close pal Odumodublvck, he won the Best Rap Single of the Year award for Cast. The win moment was later embarrassing as, after making his way to the stage, he received just a handshake from the presenter—no award plaque. Later reports indicated that the organizers had run out of plaques half through the awards ceremony.
