Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has sparked controversy with recent comments about Vice President Kamala Harris, making light of physical violence and questioning her racial identity. In a video acquired by TMZ, the 71-year-old Hogan is seen addressing a lively audience during a promotional event for his new beer, asking, “Do you want me to body slam Kamala Harris?!” He further provoked the crowd by suggesting he might use one of his signature wrestling moves, “Do you want me to drop the leg on Kamala?!”
The remarks come at a sensitive time, with heightened concerns about political violence following a recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Hogan’s comments continued as he questioned Harris’s racial background, noting that she is biracial with an Indian mother and Jamaican father. “Is Kamala a chameleon? Is she Indian?” Hogan queried the audience, and then used an outdated and offensive stereotype associated with Native American culture.
The video ends with Hogan acknowledging, “I was going to get heat for that one,” before adding, “That was not me, that was the beer talking.
Hogan’s comments come on the heels of similar controversial remarks by former President Trump, who has made unfounded claims about Harris’s racial identity, asserting that she had only recently embraced her Black heritage. This follows a speech Hogan gave at the Republican National Convention last month, where he praised Trump and wore a vest emblazoned with Trump’s name and vice-presidential candidate JD Vance.
The incident coincides with the Democratic National Convention taking place this week in Chicago, where the party is expected to officially endorse Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate for the upcoming election.
