As “Saturday Night Live” gears up for its milestone 50th season, the iconic sketch show is welcoming three new cast members while bidding farewell to Chloe Troast.
According to Deadline, the new additions to the “SNL” cast are Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline.
Ashley Padilla, who has been part of The Groundlings’ Main Company since 2021, brings her extensive improv experience to the show. Padilla has also appeared on popular series such as “Night Court” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Emil Wakim, a Lebanese-American comedian, gained recognition as the New Face of Comedy at the 2022 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. That same year, he made his debut on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” marking a significant step in his career.
Jane Wickline, known for her growing presence on TikTok, has built a strong following through her work on the show “Stapleview.” In addition to her online success, Wickline is featured in the upcoming 2024 Mubi film “My First Film” and is actively touring with her comedy.
While “SNL” expands its ensemble, current cast member Chloe Troast has announced her departure from the show. On social media, Troast shared the news with her followers, saying, “Unfortunately, I was not asked back to SNL this season. I wish I was going back to be with all the amazing friends I made there; it truly felt like home. But it wasn’t in the cards.”
Troast’s exit follows the earlier announcements by cast members Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney, who also revealed they would not be returning for the new season.
The 50th season of “SNL” promises to be a celebratory affair, reflecting on its decades-long legacy while continuing to deliver sharp political satire. The anniversary season will see the return of former cast member Maya Rudolph, who will reprise her role as Vice President Kamala Harris in periodic appearances.
As the show transitions into its landmark season, the new cast members are expected to bring fresh perspectives and energy to the long-running program. Fans can look forward to a blend of nostalgic moments and new comedic voices as “SNL” continues to evolve while celebrating its significant achievement in television history.
