Bon Jovi Commended for Helping Girl in Crisis on Bridge

2 min read

Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi has been praised by the police in Nashville after his involvement with a suicidal woman on the side of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, Tuesday evening.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on Saturday released a video that showed Bon Jovi and his entourage at the scene, where the woman was standing precariously over the Cumberland River. In a police statement, it said 62-year-old Bon Jovi and others spoke with the woman, persuading her to safely walk back onto the bridge.

“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” said Police Chief John Drake in a short statement.

Additional footage shared on social media indicated Bon Jovi was in Nashville shooting a music video on the bridge. In the police video, the woman – wearing blue – is holding onto the railing while standing on the ledge of the bridge. As passersby walk by, Bon Jovi and his crew can be seen setting up equipment further down the bridge.

Wearing a green shirt and sunglasses, the singer, with another person accompanying him, walks over to the woman and gives her a warm wave as he leans onto the railing beside her. A minute or so later, Bon Jovi and a friend walk the woman back onto the pedestrian walkway. Once safely across the road, others join them and Bon Jovi can be seen giving the woman a comforting embrace.

Later, a police camera captures Bon Jovi walking off the bridge with the woman. Metro Nashville Police Department shared a shot of this, via social media and commended the musician, who was joined by his crew, for his good deed: “Shout out to Jon Bon Jovi and his team for assisting a woman on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge Tuesday night. Bon Jovi helped guide her off the ledge and to safety.”
