Fire Breaks Out at Job 600 Building in Ghana Accra, Disrupts Parliamentary Activities

A fire broke out on Tuesday, August 27, at the Job 600 building in Accra, which houses the offices of Members of Parliament. The incident has caused significant disruption, with all parliamentary activities called off for the day as a precautionary measure.

According to reports from the scene by TV3’s Grace Hammoah Agyemang, the fire began around 10 a.m., originating from a storeroom on the 2nd floor of the Job 600 building. The fire quickly spread, causing concern among the staff and Members of Parliament present in the building.

In response to the emergency, all staff members were instructed to evacuate the premises for their safety. Six fire tenders were immediately deployed to the scene, with firefighters working tirelessly to bring the blaze under control. The Accra Fire Regional Commander provided a briefing, indicating that the situation was being closely monitored and efforts were underway to fully extinguish the fire.

The fire disrupted committee sittings and other parliamentary business scheduled for the day, as the safety of all personnel was prioritized. As of now, there have been no reports of injuries, but the extent of the damage to the building is still being assessed.
