Rolls-Royce Lands Major Deal to Supply Engines for Cathay Pacific’s New Fleet

Rolls-Royce has secured a major contract to supply engines for a new fleet of aircraft, marking a significant milestone for the company’s civil aerospace division. The Derby-based firm will manufacture 60 Trent 7000 engines, which will power 30 Airbus A330-900neo aircraft ordered by Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s flag carrier.

In addition to the engine supply, Cathay Pacific has signed a TotalCare service agreement with Rolls-Royce. This agreement includes comprehensive maintenance and support services for the aircraft, ensuring the engines and related systems remain in optimal condition throughout their operational life.

Ewen McDonald, Rolls-Royce’s Chief Customer Officer for Civil Aerospace, highlighted the environmental benefits of the new engines. The Trent 7000 engines, combined with the Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, are expected to reduce emissions by 14%. McDonald emphasized the value of the Trent 7000 and TotalCare package, describing it as a robust solution that offers significant benefits to airline customers. He noted that this order makes Cathay Pacific the world’s largest operator of Trent 7000 engines, underlining the confidence the airline has in this engine model. Rolls-Royce is investing £1 billion into its Trent engine family, reflecting its commitment to innovation and performance.
