Chris Rogers received the Travel and Lifestyle award along with a R10,000 LIFT wallet prize and also secured the Best Creator Campaign Content Award, showcasing his versatility and popularity.
Coachella Randy, a fan favorite, won the Trendsetter Award amidst fierce competition from other nominees, including Moghelingz. Nabilah Kariem, who triumphed in the Fashion and Style category, drew attention when stylist Phupho Gumede left the venue after her loss. Coachella Randy expressed his gratitude, saying, “When I got the nomination, I was blown away. It means a lot to me that some people see themselves through me and want to express themselves through my work.”
Colour Me Simphiwe, known for her stunning makeup artistry that celebrates African cultures, received both the Beauty Award and the Spirit of Africa Award, which included a R20,000 cash prize. In an interview with News24, she reflected on the importance of the recognition: “It means I am seen, I am validated, and I am slowly becoming the girl I have dreamt of becoming.”
Her journey as a self-taught makeup artist began with mastering basic techniques and evolved into intricate designs. “I watched tutorials for hours to perfect looks like the butterfly and cloud designs. Slowly, I transitioned into more complex creations,” she shared.
Another highlight of the night was Sifo The Cooking Husband, who won both the Foodie Award and the coveted DStv Content Creator of the Year Award, which also included a R20,000 cash prize. In his acceptance speech, Sifo spoke passionately about redefining the perception of cooking as a gender role. “This is one of the biggest awards of the night. For me to walk away with it is mind-blowing. It shows that people respect what I do, which is crucial for encouraging men to take an active role in the kitchen,” he stated.
