Chappell Roan Reflects on Her Career Shift: From Acting Aspirations to Music Stardom

Chappell Roan, known for her hit single “Good Luck Babe!” and her dynamic presence in the music industry, has openly shared her dramatic career shift from aspiring actor to celebrated pop star. Despite initially pursuing acting, Roan now admits she would prefer nearly anything over stepping into an acting role.

Roan’s music career took off spectacularly, yet it all began with a different dream. In an interview with Interview Magazine, Roan revealed that her initial move into music was driven by a desire to break into acting. “I originally started doing music because I wanted to get my foot in the door for acting,” Roan explained. “Then I moved to Los Angeles, and I was like, ‘F— that.’ The industry is legitimately so scary, and it is so out of my control.”

Although she was trained in acting, Roan found the experience far more daunting than she anticipated. “I would rather get arrested,” she quipped, highlighting just how stressful she finds the acting world.

During her conversation with “Saturday Night Live” cast member Bowen Yang, published in Interview Magazine on Monday, Roan acknowledged that she remains open to acting if the opportunity is right. However, her current focus is firmly on her burgeoning music career.

In 2023, Roan’s debut album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” achieved impressive success, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her single “Good Luck Babe!” has also made a significant impact, securing a spot in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.

Adding to her achievements, Roan’s track “Feminomenon” gained viral attention last month after being featured in a campaign post by Vice President Kamala Harris. This exposure, coupled with record-breaking crowds at various music festivals this summer, has propelled Roan’s career to new heights.

Reflecting on her meteoric rise, Roan told Yang, “I never really expected it to grow this big. Everything right now is truly icing on the cake.”
