The D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim on Friday celebrated the magic of Disney with a thrilling preview of upcoming films and streaming content. This biennial event, which attracts Disney enthusiasts from around the world, serves as both a cosplay festival and a promotional extravaganza. Dwayne Johnson kicked off the event with an introduction to “Moana 2,” the animated sequel to the 2016 hit. He described the sequel as a “perfect escape,” set to hit theaters on November 27.

The event continued to generate excitement with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan presenting a sequel to their 2003 hit “Freaky Friday.” The new installment, titled “Freakier Friday,” brings back the dynamic mother-daughter duo who previously swapped bodies. Curtis and Lohan expressed their enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing that fan support was a key factor in their return. Curtis described the experience as “picking up where we left off,” while Lohan highlighted the sequel’s added emotional depth and fun.

Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins captivated the audience with a preview of “Mufasa: The Lion King,” a live-action prequel to the iconic 1994 animated film. The teaser included a glimpse of new scenes and featured original music by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Set for release on December 20, the film explores the backstory of Mufasa, the beloved lion king.

The showcase was also marked by lively performances and entertainment, including a dazzling magic trick by David Blaine and a soundtrack by Lin-Manuel Miranda, further enhancing the event’s festive atmosphere.
