Jennifer Lopez is candidly reflecting on a tumultuous year in her life. In a revealing conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez discussed a series of significant changes, including the cancellation of her much-anticipated concert tour and the end of her marriage to Ben Affleck.

The conversation began with Lopez discussing her role as Judy Robles in the upcoming film “Unstoppable.” Robles is the mother of Anthony Robles, a wrestler who triumphed despite being born with only one leg. Glaser tied this role to Lopez’s own struggles with self-esteem, prompting an insightful discussion.

“My whole life has been about proving my enoughness,” Lopez shared, emphasizing the long journey to self-acceptance. “Dealing with feeling like you’re enough from a young age is something you don’t really figure out until later, because you’re often not looking at yourself in that way. There’s something driving your decisions, and you don’t always know why.”

Lopez connected her motivations to her childhood experiences, sharing how feelings of being overlooked as a middle child influenced her. She described her mother as outgoing and her father as someone who worked long hours, which left her feeling unimportant at times. “That embeds in you,” she explained. “I know my parents did the best they could. Now that I’m a parent, I have much more empathy for their experiences.”

As the conversation progressed, Lopez reflected on her recent challenges. Despite working hard on her film and her upcoming album, short film, and documentary titled “This Is Me…Now,” she felt a sense of accomplishment, only to experience a sudden upheaval in her life. “I was feeling like, ‘Whoa, I got here,’” she recalled. “Then it was like my whole f**king world exploded.”

Her relationship with Affleck, which garnered significant media attention following their reunion decades after their initial engagement, reached a turning point in August when Lopez filed for divorce. However, rather than dwelling on the past, she is focusing on the future.

“Now I’m excited about being on my own,” Lopez expressed. “I’m not looking for anyone because everything I’ve been through over the past 25 or 30 years has taught me what I can do when I’m flying solo.” She added, “What if I’m just free?”

“Unstoppable,” which chronicles the inspirational story of Anthony Robles and his mother, is set for a limited theatrical release in December. Lopez’s portrayal in the film promises to resonate deeply with audiences, particularly given her own reflections on resilience and self-discovery.

Lopez’s journey over the past year illustrates her strength and determination to embrace change, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. As she looks forward to what lies ahead, her willingness to share her struggles serves as an inspiration to many, encouraging others to confront their own obstacles with courage and authenticity.

Through her openness about her experiences, Jennifer Lopez not only highlights her evolution as an artist but also as a person. Her journey continues to unfold, and with it, she invites her fans to join her in celebrating resilience and self-empowerment.
