2 min read

Kendrick Lamar has revealed that SZA will be joining him as a special guest for his Super Bowl LIX halftime show performance. The announcement came through a video shared on Lamar’s verified social media account on Thursday.

In the video, Lamar is seen on a football field, seemingly deep in thought while checking his phone. As he reflects on the monumental performance ahead, he remarks, “You know, this field a lot bigger than people think, so that’s a must.” He then hints at a surprise, saying, “I’ve been thinking about a guest performer.” Just then, SZA sneaks up behind him and surprises him by pouring a large container of blue liquid on him, making for a playful and unexpected moment.

The pairing of Lamar and SZA comes as no surprise, as the two have frequently collaborated over the years. They most recently worked together on singles like “Luther” and “Gloria” for Lamar’s surprise album GNX, and on the track “30 for 30” for SZA’s album Lana. Their musical chemistry has been widely appreciated by fans and critics alike, making their joint performance at the Super Bowl halftime show highly anticipated.

In addition to this exciting collaboration for the halftime show, it was also announced last month that Lamar will be hitting the road with SZA for a joint tour in April. The tour will follow his Super Bowl performance, adding another layer of excitement for fans eager to see the duo perform live together.

The Super Bowl halftime show, featuring Lamar and SZA, will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9. The highly anticipated performance will be broadcast live on Fox at 6:30 p.m. EST, promising a star-studded spectacle that combines two of the biggest names in modern hip-hop and R&B.

Fans are already buzzing about what the performance will bring, and with Lamar’s history of energetic and captivating halftime performances, this year’s show is shaping up to be one of the most memorable. Whether they’ll perform their biggest hits or unveil new surprises remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the Super Bowl halftime show will be a must-watch event for music lovers everywhere.
