Norwegians Crown Princess’s Son Admits to Cocaine and Alcohol-Fueled Attack on Girlfriend

Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has confessed to a violent assault on his girlfriend under the influence of cocaine and alcohol.

The incident occurred on August 4, when Høiby was arrested following a domestic altercation at an apartment in Oslo. He faces charges of causing bodily harm and assaulting his partner. Norwegian media reports revealed that a knife was found lodged in one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom, adding to the severity of the situation.

The following day, the woman sought medical attention but was not hospitalized, according to her lawyer.

Høiby expressed deep regret for his actions, acknowledging the seriousness of the incident. “Something happened that should never have happened,” he stated. “I committed bodily harm and damaged property in an apartment while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine after an argument.”

Høiby, who has struggled with mental health issues and substance abuse for years, vowed to seek further treatment. Despite his ongoing challenges, he emphasized that neither his drug use nor his mental health struggles justify his actions. “I want to take responsibility for what I did,” he asserted, promising to cooperate fully with the authorities.

His lawyer, Øyvind Bratlien, confirmed that Høiby has already pleaded guilty and is prepared to accept the consequences of his actions. Høiby’s readiness to face the legal repercussions was shared in an interview with Norway’s TV2.

Born in 1997 from Mette-Marit’s relationship before her 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, Høiby was raised alongside his half-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, within the royal household. However, unlike his royal family members, Høiby has not held any official public role.

The Norwegian royal family has not yet issued a public comment regarding Høiby’s arrest or the recent developments.
