Ron Ely, the American actor famed for his portrayal of Tarzan in the iconic 1960s television series, has died at the age of 86. His daughter, Kirsten Casale Ely, shared the news on Instagram, expressing deep sorrow: “The world has lost one of the greatest men it has ever known—and I have lost my dad.”

Ely starred in “Tarzan,” which aired on NBC from 1966 to 1968, capturing the hearts of audiences with his rugged charm and athleticism. The role required Ely to perform many of his own stunts, a decision that led to numerous injuries, including broken bones and even animal attacks during filming.

Ron Ely passed away at his home in Los Alamos, located in Santa Barbara, California, on September 29.
