Timothée Chalamet says riding a bike to the London premiere of ‘A Complete Unknown’ cost him a $79 fine
2 min readTimothée Chalamet recently shared an amusing yet costly incident that occurred during the London premiere of his Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown. In an effort to reduce his carbon footprint and avoid traffic, the actor decided to ride a rented electric Lime bike to the event. However, his environmentally friendly choice led to an unexpected fine.
During an appearance on the French TV show Quotidien, Chalamet revealed that he received a fine of 65 pounds, approximately $79.53, after failing to park the bike correctly. He explained that the traffic congestion in London was making it difficult to get to the premiere on time, and the bike seemed like the quickest solution. Unfortunately, his haste to arrive at the event resulted in him not following the proper parking rules for the bike.
“It was horrible, because it was actually kind of an advert for [the Lime company],” Chalamet joked during the interview, acknowledging the irony of the situation. Despite his good intentions to use the bike as a sustainable mode of transportation, the actor learned the importance of following the rules for bike-sharing systems in the city.
Now, with a fine to his name, it’s safe to say that Chalamet will be extra careful the next time he rents a bike. In a fitting nod to his role as Bob Dylan, he might reflect on the famous line from Dylan’s song, “The times they are a-changin’”—and perhaps so is his approach to bike-sharing.
