In a rare and candid interview, Tom Holland has shared details about his relationship with his girlfriend, Zendaya, and their plans for the holiday season. The “Spider-Man” star opened up on the Dish podcast, revealing how he feels about Zendaya and offering a glimpse into their private lives, which they have kept largely out of the spotlight despite their immense fame.
Holland spoke warmly of Zendaya, calling her “the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” The two actors, who met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, have maintained a relatively private relationship despite their status as two of Hollywood’s most famous stars. Their connection, Holland explained, has helped them both navigate the challenges of fame, particularly because they can relate to each other’s experiences in a unique way.
As for their plans for the upcoming Christmas holiday, Holland shared that they would spend the festive season together in the U.S., joining Zendaya’s family. Although he declined to reveal their exact location, he expressed excitement about the prospect of spending the holiday with her loved ones. “I am gonna be in America this year, I’ll be with my girlfriend’s family, which will be fun,” he said on the podcast. Holland also hinted that while they had not yet fully organized the details, they hoped to eventually bring both families together for Christmas celebrations in the future.
Reflecting on the challenge of organizing family gatherings, Holland admitted that, like many busy people, he and Zendaya are “terrible at organizing things.” He added, “This time, because we’re both actors, we’re terrible at organizing things. So it hasn’t happened yet. The thought’s there. The idea has been planted.” Despite the light-hearted nature of his comment, it’s clear that family is a priority for both of them, and they look forward to the day they can combine their celebrations.
Holland also opened up about his attempts at cooking, especially since Zendaya is a vegetarian. While he humorously confessed that his culinary efforts hadn’t always gone as planned, he revealed that he had been experimenting with vegetarian recipes. “I’ve been in Boston these past few weeks and she’s been working so I’ve been doing a lot of the dinners. And they haven’t been great. There’s been a few ‘let’s just order-ins,’” Holland shared. However, he was proud of his efforts in cooking vegetarian meals, including a version of his favorite chili con carne, made with lentils instead of meat. “I do a really, really tasty chilli con carne. But I’ve started doing chilli con lentils. And it’s actually really good,” he said.
Holland’s insights into his relationship with Zendaya also extended to their shared experiences working together on film. He explained that having each other on set has been a “saving grace.” After appearing together in three Spider-Man films, the couple has become accustomed to being in each other’s professional lives. “It’s just that perfect thing when you’re on set and a director will give you a note that maybe you don’t agree with, or I know that she doesn’t particularly like, and it’s just that familiar glance at each other of like, ‘can’t wait to talk about that later,’” Holland said, underscoring the special bond they share both on and off the set.
In addition to their Spider-Man roles, Holland and Zendaya are set to appear together in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project, though details of the film are being kept tightly under wraps. Holland shared that he had met with Nolan and had been given a brief pitch of the project, but emphasized that, at this stage, he knew very little about it. “It hasn’t started shooting. To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know anything about it,” Holland said, expressing both excitement and intrigue over the opportunity to collaborate with the renowned director.
As for their future together, both personally and professionally, Holland’s reflections revealed the depth of his affection for Zendaya. Their relationship continues to thrive, and while they may not often share details with the public, it’s clear that their connection remains strong.
