ActionSA Nominates Cllr Nobuhle Mthembu for City of Johannesburg Council Speaker

ActionSA has put forward its Joburg Caucus Leader, Cllr Nobuhle Mthembu, as a candidate for the position of City of Johannesburg Council Speaker.

Cllr Mthembu, known for her unwavering dedication and advocacy for accountability and transparency, has been a prominent figure in addressing the needs of Johannesburg residents during her tenure on the Council. Her experience and commitment make her a strong candidate for the role of Speaker.

Throughout her service, Cllr Mthembu has tackled significant issues such as the administrative failures leading to the devastating Usindiso fire, which claimed over 77 lives, and the Bree explosion mismanagement. Her efforts also extend to addressing the city’s water crisis, service delivery shortcomings, and the decline of the Inner City. Furthermore, she has championed the reversal of the problematic R200 surcharge on already burdened residents.

In her role as ActionSA’s Caucus Leader, Cllr Mthembu has not only shed light on critical issues hampering effective city governance but has also consistently proposed practical solutions to help steer the city towards recovery.

Cllr Mthembu holds a BCom degree in Taxation and has actively contributed to the Council’s Section 79 Committee on Human Settlements. Her tenure has been marked by a solution-oriented approach, with a focus on integrity and operational efficiency.

ActionSA aims to be a constructive force, committed to advocating for the residents’ best interests by stabilizing governance and ensuring effective service delivery.
