Ruto Urges High Court to Step Down From Gachagua Impeachment Case
1 min readPresident William Ruto has officially asked the High Court to step down from hearing a petition that touches on the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Through his lawyer Adrian Kamotho, Ruto claims that the High Court does not have jurisdiction to try him and terms the case an abuse of due process. “The petition before this Honourable Court clearly disregards the law and constitutes an abuse of due process, and therefore cannot be entertained by this Court,” reads the court documents.
In the petition, President Ruto is listed as the fifth respondent, while recently impeached Gachagua is listed as an interested party.
