Hearts of Oak Bid Farewell to Four Players Ahead of New Season

1 min read

Aug 7-  Accra Hearts of Oak has confirmed the departure of four players as they prepare for the upcoming 2024-25 football season. The club is parting ways with Issah Akukah, Salifu Ibrahim, Yakubu Zakari, and goalkeeper Richard Attah.

Salifu Ibrahim, who recently completed his transfer to FC Drita in Kosovo, was released by Hearts of Oak after his contract expired. Despite discussions about extending his stay with the club, the negotiations did not reach a successful conclusion, leading to his departure.

Richard Attah, a key player in Hearts of Oak’s domestic treble-winning team of 2021, has also been released. His performance in recent times had declined, resulting in limited appearances and ultimately contributing to the decision to let him go.

Issah Akukah, who struggled to make an impact during his recent stint, has been transferred to Vision FC, a newly promoted team. His return to the squad did not yield the desired results, prompting the move.

Yakubu Zakari, who had limited playing opportunities during his tenure with Hearts of Oak, has left the club by mutual agreement. His departure follows a period where he struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup.

Hearts of Oak’s management is focusing on rebuilding the team in anticipation of the new season, which is set to commence in September 2024. The departures are part of a broader strategy to revamp the squad and enhance performance as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
