Luka Modric Included in Croatia’s Nations League Squad Despite Uncertainty

1 min read

Luka Modric has been selected for Croatia’s 24-man squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. The Real Madrid captain, who will turn 39 in September, has earned 178 caps since his debut in 2006.

Following Croatia’s early exit from Euro 2024, there was speculation about Modric’s future with the national team. However, his continued presence was confirmed after teammates Domagoj Vida and Marcelo Brozovic announced their retirements from international football. Croatian head coach Zlatko Dalic expressed his satisfaction with Modric’s decision to remain, highlighting the veteran midfielder’s significant impact both on and off the pitch.

Modric, who extended his contract with Real Madrid for another year in July, played in all three of Croatia’s matches at Euro 2024. The Croatian team, competing in League A of the Nations League, will face Portugal on September 5 and then host Poland three days later.
