Andrew Tate’s Romanian Properties Raided Amid Expanded Investigation

2 min read

Romanian authorities have conducted searches at the residences of controversial influencer Andrew Tate as part of a broader investigation into new allegations against him. Tate, who is already facing trial on charges of rape and human trafficking, could now face additional allegations including sexual offenses involving minors, trafficking in underage persons, money laundering, and attempting to influence witnesses, according to prosecutors.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, both prominent figures on social media with substantial followings, have consistently denied all previous allegations. The brothers were initially detained in Romania in December 2022 and were under house arrest until their release in August 2023.

On Wednesday morning, Romanian police executed searches at four locations in Bucharest and Ilfov County. The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), Romania’s special prosecution service, confirmed the searches and indicated that the investigation has been ongoing for some time.

In response to the raids, Andrew Tate took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a defiant message: “The Matrix is real. And they have a tried and true playbook. Slander is their number one tool and the process is the punishment. But unfortunately for them, Good always wins in the end.”

Tate, a self-proclaimed misogynist who has previously been banned from various social media platforms for his controversial views, has repeatedly asserted that Romanian prosecutors lack evidence against him and that there is a broader conspiracy aimed at silencing him.

The Tate brothers, who are dual UK-US nationals and former kickboxers, face accusations of exploiting women through an adult content business, which prosecutors allege was operated as a criminal enterprise. The indictment, published in June of the previous year, also named two Romanian female associates of the brothers and identified seven alleged victims.

In addition to the Romanian charges, the Tates are sought in the UK for separate and unrelated sexual offenses allegedly committed there. The widening investigation into their activities highlights the serious legal challenges they face on multiple fronts.
